Preschool – Day 14

Circle Time:

  • Sing “If You’re Happy and You Know It”
  • Practice identifying different body parts
  • Discuss the importance of personal hygiene

Language Arts:

  • Read “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom” by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault
  • Discuss the story and the different letters of the alphabet that climb the coconut tree
  • Practice identifying and writing the letter “J”

Math:

  • Introduce the concept of patterns and the different types of patterns (e.g. AB, ABB)
  • Use manipulatives and other materials to create and identify different patterns
  • Practice counting to 140 as a group

Social Studies:

  • Talk about different holidays and their traditions
  • Read “The Night Before Thanksgiving” by Natasha Wing
  • Discuss the different traditions and foods associated with Thanksgiving

Science:

  • Introduce the concept of magnets and their properties
  • Conduct simple experiments to explore magnetism (e.g. using magnets to attract and repel different materials)
  • Discuss how magnets are used in everyday life

Art:

  • Use paper plates and paint to create animal masks (e.g. lion, giraffe)
  • Encourage children to use their imagination and creativity
  • Have a parade around the classroom wearing the animal masks
