Preschool – Day 17

Circle Time:

  • Sing “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes”
  • Practice identifying different weather patterns
  • Discuss the importance of staying safe during different types of weather

Language Arts:

  • Read “Caps for Sale” by Esphyr Slobodkina
  • Discuss the story and the different caps the peddler tries to sell
  • Practice identifying and writing the letter “M”

Math:

  • Introduce the concept of shapes and the different types of shapes (e.g. circle, square, triangle)
  • Use manipulatives and other materials to identify and sort different shapes
  • Practice counting to 170 as a group

Social Studies:

  • Talk about different types of families and their traditions
  • Read “The Family Book” by Todd Parr
  • Discuss the different types of families and the importance of diversity and inclusion

Science:

  • Introduce the concept of the five senses and their functions
  • Conduct simple experiments to explore the different senses (e.g. blindfolded taste test, feeling different textures)
  • Discuss how we use our senses to learn about the world around us

Art:

  • Use paint and paper to create handprint and footprint art
  • Encourage children to use their creativity to decorate their prints
  • Display the art in the classroom for the week
