Preschool – Day 20

Circle Time:

  • Sing “Old MacDonald Had a Farm”
  • Practice identifying and naming different animals
  • Play a game of “Animal Charades”

Language Arts:

  • Read “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle
  • Discuss the story and the life cycle of a butterfly
  • Practice identifying and writing the letter “P”

Math:

  • Introduce the concept of addition and the different ways to add numbers (e.g. using fingers, using objects)
  • Use manipulatives and other materials to practice adding numbers
  • Practice counting to 200 as a group

Social Studies:

  • Talk about different types of homes and their characteristics
  • Read “A House Is a House for Me” by Mary Ann Hoberman
  • Discuss the different types of homes and the materials used to build them

Science:

  • Introduce the concept of the five senses and the different ways we use our senses
  • Conduct simple experiments to explore the different senses (e.g. blindfolded taste test, smelling different objects)
  • Discuss the importance of taking care of our senses

Art:

  • Use paint and paper to create handprint animals
  • Encourage children to use different colors and textures to make their animals unique
  • Display the handprint animals in the classroom for the week
