Preschool – Day 21

Circle Time:

  • Sing “If You’re Happy and You Know It”
  • Practice identifying and naming different colors
  • Play a game of “Color Bingo”

Language Arts:

  • Read “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom” by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault
  • Discuss the alphabet and the different letters in the story
  • Practice identifying and writing the letter “Q”

Math:

  • Introduce the concept of subtraction and the different ways to subtract numbers (e.g. counting backward, using objects)
  • Use manipulatives and other materials to practice subtracting numbers
  • Practice counting to 210 as a group

Social Studies:

  • Talk about different types of transportation and their uses
  • Read “I Stink!” by Kate and Jim McMullan
  • Discuss the different types of transportation and the importance of keeping them clean

Science:

  • Introduce the concept of the four seasons and the different characteristics of each season
  • Conduct simple experiments to explore the different seasons (e.g. melting snow for winter, planting seeds for spring)
  • Discuss the changes that occur in nature during each season

Art:

  • Use different materials (e.g. tissue paper, construction paper) to create a collage of different shapes and colors
  • Encourage children to use their imagination and creativity to make their collages unique
  • Display the collages in the classroom for the week
