Preschool – Day 25

Circle Time:

  • Sing “If You’re Happy and You Know It”
  • Practice identifying and naming different shapes
  • Play a game of “Shape Bingo”

Language Arts:

  • Read “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?” by Bill Martin Jr.
  • Practice identifying and naming different animals and colors
  • Practice identifying and writing the letter “U”

Math:

  • Introduce the concept of subtraction and the symbols used to represent subtraction (e.g. -, =)
  • Use manipulatives and other materials to practice simple subtraction problems (e.g. 2-1, 3-2)
  • Practice counting to 250 as a group

Social Studies:

  • Talk about different cultures and the different ways people celebrate holidays and special occasions
  • Read “The Family Under the Bridge” by Natalie Savage Carlson
  • Discuss the different cultures represented in the book and the importance of understanding and respecting different traditions

Science:

  • Introduce the concept of the different states of matter (e.g. solid, liquid, gas)
  • Conduct simple experiments to explore the properties of different states of matter (e.g. freeze water to make ice, observe the changes in a pot of boiling water)
  • Discuss the importance of understanding the properties of matter and how they affect our daily lives

Art:

  • Use clay and other sculpting materials to create 3-dimensional sculptures
  • Encourage children to use their creativity and imagination to create unique sculptures
  • Display the sculptures in the classroom for the week
