Preschool – Day 27

Circle Time:

  • Sing “Old MacDonald Had a Farm”
  • Practice identifying and naming different farm animals
  • Play a game of “Animal Match”

Language Arts:

  • Read “The Cat in the Hat” by Dr. Seuss
  • Discuss the story and the importance of responsibility
  • Practice identifying and writing the letter “W”

Math:

  • Introduce the concept of time and the different units of time (e.g. seconds, minutes, hours)
  • Use a clock or a timer to practice telling time to the hour
  • Practice counting to 270 as a group

Social Studies:

  • Talk about the concept of diversity and the different ways people are unique (e.g. race, culture, abilities)
  • Read “It’s Okay To Be Different” by Todd Parr
  • Discuss the different ways people are different and the importance of accepting and respecting those differences

Science:

  • Introduce the concept of the life cycle of a butterfly and the different stages (e.g. egg, larva, pupa, adult)
  • Conduct simple experiments to explore the life cycle of a butterfly (e.g. observe the changes in a caterpillar as it becomes a butterfly)
  • Discuss the importance of understanding the life cycle of a butterfly and how it affects our environment

Art:

  • Use a variety of materials (e.g. construction paper, glue, glitter) to create a butterfly craft
  • Encourage children to use their creativity and imagination to design their own butterfly
  • Display the butterfly crafts in the classroom for the week
