Preschool – Day 29

Circle Time:

  • Sing “The Wheels on the Bus”
  • Practice counting backward from 10 as a group
  • Play a game of “Simon Says”

Language Arts:

  • Read “Caps for Sale” by Esphyr Slobodkina
  • Discuss the story and the importance of listening and following directions
  • Practice identifying and writing the letter “Y”

Math:

  • Introduce the concept of time and the different ways we measure time (e.g. seconds, minutes, hours, days)
  • Use a clock or timer to practice telling time to the hour and half-hour
  • Play a game of “Time Bingo” to reinforce time-telling skills

Social Studies:

  • Discuss the concept of community and the different types of communities (e.g. rural, urban, suburban)
  • Use pictures or videos to learn about different communities and their features (e.g. farms, skyscrapers, neighborhoods)
  • Encourage children to share their own experiences living in their communities

Science:

  • Introduce the concept of living things and non-living things
  • Use pictures or objects to practice identifying which things are living and which are non-living
  • Discuss the characteristics of living things (e.g. they grow, they need food and water to survive)

Art:

  • Use a variety of materials (e.g. paint, markers, crayons) to create a picture of a favorite community feature (e.g. a park, a building, a tree)
  • Encourage children to use their creativity and imagination to make their pictures unique and colorful
  • Display the community feature pictures in the classroom for the week
