Preschool – Day 30

Circle Time:

  • Sing “If You’re Happy and You Know It”
  • Practice identifying different emotions (e.g. happy, sad, mad) and discussing what might cause these feelings
  • Play a game of “Emotions Charades” where children act out different emotions and the group guesses what they are

Language Arts:

  • Read “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle
  • Discuss the life cycle of a caterpillar and butterfly and the concept of metamorphosis
  • Practice identifying and writing the letter “Z”

Math:

  • Introduce the concept of measurement and the different tools we use to measure things (e.g. rulers, scales, measuring cups)
  • Use a ruler or measuring tape to measure objects around the classroom
  • Play a game of “Measuring Fun” where children measure each other’s heights and lengths of objects

Social Studies:

  • Discuss the concept of diversity and the different ways people can be different (e.g. race, ethnicity, religion, culture)
  • Use pictures or videos to learn about different cultures and traditions from around the world
  • Encourage children to share their own experiences with their own cultures and traditions

Science:

  • Introduce the concept of weather and the different types of weather (e.g. sunny, cloudy, rainy, snowy)
  • Use pictures or videos to learn about different types of weather and the different types of clothing and gear we need for each type of weather
  • Encourage children to share their own experiences with different types of weather

Art:

  • Use a variety of materials (e.g. tissue paper, glue, markers) to create a colorful butterfly craft
  • Encourage children to use their creativity and imagination to make their butterflies unique and colorful
  • Display the butterfly crafts in the classroom for the week
