Circle Time:
- Sing “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes”
- Play a game of “I Spy” to practice visual discrimination
- Have children take turns sharing something they are thankful for
Language Arts:
- Read “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?” by Bill Martin Jr.
- Have children identify the different animals and colors in the story
- Introduce the letter “Y” and have children practice writing it
Math:
- Introduce the concept of sorting by having children sort different objects by size, shape or color
- Play a game of “What’s Missing?” where children take turns removing an object from a group and the others have to guess which one is missing
- Have children create their own patterns using colored blocks or beads
Social Studies:
- Introduce the concept of community helpers and their roles
- Show pictures or videos of different community helpers and have children identify their roles and responsibilities
- Have children draw a picture of a community helper they admire and why they admire them
Science:
- Introduce the concept of weather and the different types of weather
- Use pictures or videos to show the different types of weather such as sunny, rainy or snowy
- Have children draw a picture of their favorite type of weather and explain why they like it
Art:
- Introduce the concept of texture by providing different materials such as sandpaper or fabric for children to touch and feel
- Encourage children to create a collage using different textured materials
- Display the collages in the classroom for the week.
