Jairus, a synagogue leader, came to Jesus in desperation because his daughter was very sick. He believed that Jesus could heal her and begged for his help.

“A large crowd followed and pressed around him. And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years… When she touched his cloak, she was immediately healed.”
On the way to Jairus’ house, a woman who had been bleeding for twelve years touched Jesus’ cloak and was healed. This moment showed Jesus’ power to heal and his compassion for all in need.
News of the Daughter’s Death

“While Jesus was still speaking, some people came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. ‘Your daughter is dead,’ they said. ‘Why bother the teacher anymore?'”
Before Jesus could reach Jairus’ house, people came with the sad news that his daughter had died. They thought it was too late for Jesus to do anything.
Jesus’ Assurance

“Overhearing what they said, Jesus told him, ‘Don’t be afraid; just believe.'”
Despite the news, Jesus encouraged Jairus to keep believing and not be afraid. He continued on to Jairus’ house.
The Miracle of Bringing the Daughter Back to Life

“He took her by the hand and said to her, ‘Talitha koum!’ (which means ‘Little girl, I say to you, get up!’). Immediately the girl stood up and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished.”
At the house, Jesus saw people crying and wailing. He told them the girl was not dead but asleep. He then took her by the hand and told her to get up, and she did. She was alive!

Everyone was astonished by this miracle. Jesus showed his power over death and gave the girl back her life, demonstrating God’s love and the power of faith.
